What Christmas Traditions Did I Have Growing Up?

The week between Thanksgiving and the 1st of December, my family would gather in the living room and piece together our Christmas tree. We hung up stockings and put the lights around the tree.

On Christmas Eve, my family would load up the ole van and go to church. The service would last the last few hours into Christmas. I would looked forward to the present my parents brought with us. It was never the gift that we were looking forward to, but was equally meaningful.

What Do The Holidays Mean To Me?

The holidays is the time of year where people get to recharge from the year up to that point. Our families get the perfect opportunity to come together to eat, catch up and exchange gifts to show appreciation to the ones in our lives.

What’s The Earliest Christmas Memories That I Have?

I don’t know about you, but the first Christmas tree I remember putting up was store bought. The tree was taller than our ceiling but we loved it for what it was, a Christmas tree. It was our first Christmas after we moved into our new house that year. My dad sat us down on couch then explained how this would become our tradition. “Yeah right!, That’s what he always said”.

As we were being pessimistic about the whole situation, he drug a large white tub of ornaments into the room. We used the knowledge we gained from the Christmas movies we watched over the years and decorated the most beautiful tree EVER. That tradition went on for many years until all 5 children graduated from high school.

The holidays are about creating memories with the ones you love. Remember every one is different and may have a different spin on how they celebrate it. Be open minded these holidays and see what works best for you.
