Today is Christmas Day, it’s finally here. Day 25 of 25 on our journey to 25 Days of Blogmas. All the anticipation was worth it when my son woke up running up and down the halls in excitement because he knew he could open his gifts. Even I woke up singing my own version of Jingle Bells.
This morning at 12, we told our son to open his first two gift. The first present was a new outfit so we allowed him to open another. The second was a matching game with numbers and pictures. When we woke up later, I was excited to see my son ripping over his gifts under the tree. It made me smile when he was more interested in the presents that I bought him rather than ones sent to him.
This is the first Christmas since the pandemic ravaged the world separating multiple families leaving them to only FaceTime and talk on the phone. My family is no different. My household celebrated Christmas with just the three of us and called various family members. The family I couldn’t visit brightened my day when they called me on a group FaceTime. The overlapping talking and laughing completely captured what I miss about my family. I am torn inside that we weren’t together but that call made them feel just as close.
The gifts I received this year was socks, a shirt and a coupon book my wife made for me. I was completely caught off guard with my gifts because I look more to getting my son gifts than receiving. I love the holiday season, I hate that it has to leave. It always takes longer to arrive and leaves quicker but I am still happy for the time and feeling that they bring.
I can’t believe this has been 25 days straight of blogging. This was definitely a challenge for me and I wanted to give up so many time but didn’t due to the support from family and the will to fight to accomplish my goals. I can’t wait to see what 2021 holds for my blog. I will be getting closer to finding my niche and subject matter in this time. This is Nothin to Somethin and will be growing my audience one post, one poem, one song and one engagement at a time. Thank you to those who have been here since day one and the others that joined the journey along the way.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
