Object Writing Page 11 – Karaoke Machine

The karaoke machine, a toy used to magnify a kids voice so that others can hear it from a distance. The machine can sings an alto when the microphone is placed at the perfect wrong position. It can even hit low notes when someone hits it hard enough. My son loves to test all of these notes… daily. I feel so bad as I watch my son dragging this poor machine by it’s dark black hair to the middle of a busy living room. After he sets up shop, he rocks back and forth like the old ladies in church do and begins to babble his lately freestyle, A Capella. His squinted eyes and tightly cliched fists show me this will be his greatest performance yet!!! After nailing the last note of his solo, he makes eye contact with me, drops his head and the drops his mic. I shoot up from the chair, clapping so loud they would be heard from the back of an auditorium. I guess this frightens him because he takes off running. I catch up to…
