Song Background: My Story

I’ve finally done it!!! I’ve found a way to tell my story creatively. And the crazy thing is once I hit the upload button, I felt a huge weight lifted from my shoulders. Like every song I release, I look to improve on something from the previous one. With “My Story”, I was more focused on using sections of my life I felt were important and saying them rhythmically.

The song “My Story” was released on July 14th as the first of 4 songs on the project, “Tha Process 4 Letting Go”. The second song, “Can We Be Friends” is currently on it’s way to stores right now. I chose my normal song structure for the verses and choruses. Songs today are getting shorter and I will be continuing that trend. The run time of “My Story” is 2:32, gets to the point and is over before you know it. For this song and each song to follow, I’m looking to engage the listener so they want to hit the replay button.

You can listen to the song and read the lyrics below…

Lyrics:

I may be broke, but never broken
I may be broke, but never broken
The name is BFK, here’s my story

Come and listen to this short tale
When I hold it, it don’t sit well
Let me exhale
Then explain why I can’t fail
We moved from Frayser to Raleigh and Bartlett too
Losing a sock and a friend or two
I couldn’t hold on to anything
That’s how I beat every game
You could call it my pacifier
Play two games life passin’ by ya
You would need pliers to pull me away
Inside of the house Imma stay

You now know my story
You now know my pain
You now know my story
You now know the name
You now know my story
You now know my name
You now know my story
You now know my name

If it wasn’t the game, I’m playing the drums
On beat, hope it lead me to some
Be sittin’ in Sunday Service, nervous
Thinkin’ on sins I have done
All from the past week
And all of my life
And now that I stole
I won’t see the light
I know I did wrong
But can I be right
I been crying and praying all night
Now on my internal fight to be better
Tryna live my life with no errors
Hidin’ pain, seeming the purest
When I’m a diamond one of the clearest ugh

You now know my story
You now know my pain
You now know my story
You now know the name
You now know my story
You now know my name
You now know my story
You now know my name

Was the oldest of 5, no lie
Look, when I found out I was 9
What a surprise, now I get to live in a shadow
Where you act wrong, you get the paddle
I ain’t mad though
Spare the rod then they teeth go rotten
Got nothing but love, life teacher a sub
So i keep me a cleaning cotton
Gotta tell my story ‘fore somebody else try to
Give you bogus parts misconstrue
What I’m tryna do
I’m giving you love, taking time and reminding you.

You now know my story
You now know my pain
You now know my story
You now know the name
You now know my story
You now know my name
You now know my story
You now know my name

Yeah, my story
Now you know me
BFK
Hard work, hard play
Until the next one
Dueces
